"Functional Fitness" is the cool fitness kid on the block - you have probably heard the phrase before and might even have tried it. Anything from CrossFit to bootcamp to "movement" counts as functional fitness.
What is Functional Fitness? The Mayo Clinic defines functional fitness as a form of exercise that will "train your muscles to help you do everyday activities safely and efficiently." These activities include walking down the stairs, playing with your kids or grandchildren, carrying groceries, and even playing sports. The squat is the most common functional exercise because it's also perhaps the most performed by everyone around the world: sitting is a squat. We will be writing in more detail about the movements later - stay tuned!
The Keep Moving Project ("KMP") believes in functional fitness as an essential training tool due to the reason that it will prepare people for everyday tasks. CrossFit has made this training methodology extremely popular in part for the reason that the workouts change every day. The way the exercises are grouped together results in some amazing results. We might sound biased, but that's because we are!
When you train with KMP, you get a lot more than a good cheerleader. We are trained, certified and qualified to ensure the safest, most effective workout with you in mind. We understand that your lifestyle might require long work hours, a high-stress living environment. We will make sure that all of these factors are considered with a pre-workout discussion and individual attention during your sessions. And remember, it's not about how much time you put in, but rather how much you put into the time.
